LIHI announces the completion of rehabilitation of Auburn Manor located at 950 14th Street NE in Auburn. The 25-unit complex includes two- and three-bedroom apartments.
“We are pleased to celebrate the renovation of Auburn Manor to preserve critically needed affordable housing in South King County for 25 families with children,” said Sharon Lee, LIHI Executive Director. With HUD Section 8 subsidies in place, each household pays 30% of their monthly income for rent.
This rehabilitation focused on the exterior envelope of the complex, originally built in 1979. LIHI purchased the property in 1999. The rehab scope included: new roof with redesigned venting; new insulation in attics; new windows; improved bathroom exhaust fans; added exterior wall insulation; new siding; and fresh paint. Improvements to energy efficiency and air quality will benefit tenants for years to come.
Leading the rehab project were SMR Architects and Deacon Construction.
The rehab budget was $2.6 million. Thank you to King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer and the King County Council for their support of Auburn Manor. King County provided $675,000. The State Housing Trust Fund provided $980,000.
